Time for you...

Wellbeing activities

It can be difficult to look after our own health and wellbeing when we care for someone else, and it has been even more challenging during the pandemic.

You told us how important it is to get a break from caring and to meet others that understand the challenges you face. We listened, and created a range of free activities and social get-togethers online, over the phone and face to face.

From our popular craft courses to our supportive Carer Cafés, there is something for everyone.

Frequently asked questions

Here's some answer to common questions about our wellbeing activities.

To help keep you safe at our face to face activities and get-togethers, we’ve made the following changes to our activities:

  • All activities take place in well ventilated spaces (bring extra layers!)
  • Seating will be spaced at least one metre apart and attendee numbers limited accordingly
  • NHS Track and Trae must be completed on arrival
  • We have a one way system in place in our building
  • We undertake a deep clean between each activity
  • Face masks should be worn unless you are exempt
  • We ask you do not attend if you or someone you know if displaying COVID019 symptoms

Please let us know as soon as you realise you cannot make an activity and, where possible, with at least 48 hours notice before the start of the activity. This will ensure we can offer your place to another carer on the waiting list to support as many carers as possible with their wellbeing. You can contact us on info@banescarerscentre.org.uk or ring 0800 0388 885

Don't worry! We know this can happen from time to time. We would ask that you ring us on 0800 0388 885 to let us know you are running late. This will just ensure we do not worry about you.

For day trips, there is a chance we may not be able to hold up the coach, depending on how delayed you are, but we will always do our best to ensure you can make the activity.

That's ok! All of our activities and cafe's have someone called a facilitator. Their job it is to welcome anyone who hasn't been before and introduce them to other people in the session. You will be warmly welcomed and are likely to leave with a whole host of new friends!

However, if you are worried, you can ring us on 0800 0388 885 and we can talk you through what will happen at the event, ensure you know who the facilitator will be and answer any other questions you have.

Just pop in! You can join or leave conversations whenever it suits you. Some people stay for the whole event, particularly online, whereas others will arrive late, or leave early, to fit around other commitments.

You also don't need to worry about attending every event, just come when you can, but do let us know if you aren't going to be there so we can be sure not to worry about you!
