Local Pub Perseveres Through Snow to Hold Charity Quiz

Despite some of the worst weather on record, and the cancellation of the Bath Half, the Star Inn in Bath held its tenth anniversary ‘megaquiz’ as planned on Sunday 4th March 2018 and raised over £750 for the Carers' Centre.

Between 10.00am in the morning, and 10.00pm the same evening, quiz mistress Carys Ottner asked over 400 questions on subjects ranging from famous Belgians to countries with the worst passports.

“It was a bit like a pub juke box of quizzes, but it was interesting how some subjects like “To Kill A Mockingbird” and “Blade Runner” came up again and again,” said Carys, who also teaches at Churchfields Primary School in Atworth.

The Quiz was created to celebrate ten years of one of Bath’s most popular pub quizzes, and all donations went to the Carers’ Centre.

Our own volunteer co-ordinator Andy Graham, also a member of one of the competing teams, said; “It’s been a great success, we’ve surpassed our fundraising target and had a great day’s quizzing into the bargain.”

The Carers’ Centre supports over 4,000 unpaid carers in Bath and North East Somerset through information and advice, emotional support and a programme of free breaks.
