A grand auction to raise funds for two local charities has resulted in more than one hundred lots being generously donated by supporters and businesses across the area. The auction takes place on Friday 25th February at Kingswood School in Bath, and proceeds will be split between the Peggy Dodd Centre and the Carers’ Centre Bath and North East Somerset.
Rosie Cole, whose husband, Den, has Alzheimer’s Disease and is cared for at Peggy Dodd each day, is a trustee for both charities, and the driving force behind the auction.
“I wanted to raise much needed funds for these two marvellous causes who do so much to help carers like me,” said Rosie. “I know that with the support of the local business community, we can really make a difference and raise some serious money on the night.”
Kingswood School have kindly allowed their premises to be used without charge for the occasion, and bidders will be competing for all kinds of items, from lunch for four with the Mayor of Bath to a sumptuous Champagne hot tub experience, and from a breathtaking balloon flight to a week in a luxury French gite with its own pool.
“People have been hugely generous,” enthused Rosie. “We have a collector’s rugby ball signed by the Bath team, an exhilarating bob sleigh run, a trip round a race track in a Lotus and even tea at the Ritz, all donated by the people and businesses who support us.”
Tickets for the event are sold out, with bidders looking forward to an exciting evening of entertainment and fundraising for good causes.
The Peggy Dodd Centre in Bath provides carers of people with Alzheimer's and dementia a break from their caring role to enhance the life of carers and their relatives.
The Carers’ Centre Bath and North East Somerset offers help, support and breaks away from caring for those who look after a friend or family member who is frail, has a physical or mental illness, disability or problem with drugs or alcohol.
